LifeRice is a nonprofit humanitarian food aid organization with the mission to significantly reduce the number of undernourished children around the corner in the United States and starving children around the world. Our fully nutritious meals are packaged by volunteers and delivered to starving families with the help of worldwide partners.
The Food
The meal ingredients (rice, soy, vitamins & flavoring, vegetables) are formulated by food scientists to provide a rich source of easily digestible protein, carbohydrates, and vitamins needed by an undernourished child’s body and mind. The food is also acceptable to the broad diversity of ethnic tastes and religious differences around the world. The food is fortified with 21 essential vitamins and offers all 9 of the essential amino acids required for complete nutrition, something that can’t be said about other typical food relief sources such as rice or beans alone. This protein and nutrient-rich formula reverses the starvation process and improves physical health as well as the child’s mental capacity to learn. It is also very simple to prepare, requiring only 6 cups of boiling water to make a complete meal.
